About Dr. Howell

I was born and raised in Kansas. My lifelong love of all animals led me to Kansas State University where I received my B.S. in Animal Science in 1977 and my D.V.M. in 1983.

After graduation, my plans were to head west to the Bitterroot Mountains in Montana with my dog and cat. However, an intriguing ad in a veterinary journal caught my attention and changed the course of my life bringing me to Western Massachusetts. There I began my career under a well established mentor in Greenfield.

In 1990, with the help of my husband, Scott, and my two children, Sam and Gaelan, I opened my clinic on the Mohawk Trail. The practice was started in three rooms upstairs but rapidly expanded to take over the entire building.

I offer all pets and their owners a lifetime rich in experience, knowledge, and compassion.
